Stop Eating After The Sun Goes Down.
Any food left in the stomach when we go to sleep will not be digested properly; Rather, it will sit in there and be turned into fat. Sumo wrestlers deliberately eat large meals before bed in order to gain weight they can throw around in the ring. So unless you are a sumo wrestler, put down the chulupa before bedtime.
Fish Oil
Take a fish oil supplement containing omega 3 fatty acids daily. A diet rich in omega 3s can help prevent cardiovascular disease and type 2 diabetes, reduce inflammation and joint pain and even help fight depression.
Glycemic Index
Choose carbohydrates that are low on the glycemic index, (such as whole grains, beans, legumes and vegetables) rather than foods that are high on the index (such as white bread, white rice, potatoes, candy and soda). Low-glycemic carbs digest more slowly, making you feel "full" longer and keeping blood sugar at a consistent level in your body. High-glycemic carbs release rapidly into the bloodstream, providing a euphoric rush followed by a crash; they digest very quickly and make you feel hungry again soon after eating. Health benefits of a low-glycemic diet include appetite control and lower risks of heart disease and diabetes.
Walking Between Workouts
Take calorie-burning walks on days in between workouts. Besides keeping your metabolism up throughout the entire week, walking also helps sore muscles heal faster by increasing circulation and flushing out the waste products that remain in your muscles after a hard workout. Walking is also a great way to spend more quality time with your family.
Food Diary
Keeping a food diary can help you to keep track of when and under what circumstances you are eating foods that are bad for you, as well as foods that are good for you. For instance, by keeping a diary, you may find out that you are eating correctly at mealtime, but that constant nibbling throughout the day is causing you problems.
Food Placement
Place fruit and vegetables in a conspicuous, easily accessible spot in your refrigerator. The more accessible a food is, the more likely you are to eat it. Research has shown that people ate 71% more candy if it was placed in a clear dish than if it was placed in an opaque dish. This is how our brains are wired, there is no use fighting it, so instead, use it to your advantage.
Gardening:
By growing your own fresh fruits and vegetables you will have these items available to eat. Plus, you will feel more connected to your dietary choices because you grew them yourself. And gardening itself will get you off the couch and out in the fresh air, burning calories.

Train at Home Eureka is a small, boutique-style answer to the big,
impersonal corporate gyms. My name is Seth and I am the owner,
operator and sole employee of T @ H, so I am able to give every
client the personal attention they deserve. I know that the trainer/client
relationship is one that requires trust and is developed over time. When you train with me, you can have the confidence that you will have the same trainer down the road that you do today. And because I don't have to split my fee with a corporation, the savings are passed on to you.

Many people are not comfortable working out in crowded gyms, for a variety of reasons. It can be intimidating, distracting, confusing, dirty and annoying having to wait in line for equipment. At T @ H you have the choice of working out in my gym, a 100% private environment, conveniently located near Henderson Center; or, if you prefer I will come to you to train in the privacy of your own home!

About me: I am an ACE certified personal trainer and former NCAA collegiate
athlete with over a decade of experience. I provide both personal training and
nutritional counseling services, and my specialties include
sport-specific training, weight loss and special populations
(such as elderly and pregnancy).
